Gear planner
Choose what to wear. The planner follows the game's slot limits, adds up your protection, and suggests how your gear fits the equipment grid.
What you wear
Pick a piece for each slot. Some gear fills several slots at once, and tops and trousers can be layered up to a point limit. If a piece does not fit, the planner swaps out the worn piece that is in the way, as the game does.
Equipment grid layout
Every piece you wear except the backpack and the safe box also takes space in one shared equipment grid, and a piece that does not fit cannot be put on. The backpack and safe box each have a slot of their own. This layout turns pieces where needed so as many as possible fit. In the game, press R while holding an item to rotate it.
How the rules work
- One piece per slot. Helmet, eyewear, mask, body armour, chest rig, gloves, belt, boots, backpack and safe box each take a single piece.
- Tops and trousers layer. Tops hold 4 points and trousers hold 3. Most pieces use 1 point; heavy ones use more.
- Gear adds slots and storage. Tops and trousers add hotbar slots, a backpack adds a long-weapon slot, a belt adds a short-weapon slot, and backpacks and rigs provide your storage.
- Worn gear shares one grid. Everything except the backpack and safe box takes space in the 40-cell equipment grid, so a full outfit has to fit as well as satisfy the slot limits.
