Weak points and hit areas

These parts can be hit on their own. A hit on a part damages this enemy's own health, so a part has no separate health to deplete.

Mechanical Eye

  • Damage dealt to this enemy: 2× damage.
  • Passing through: Bullets and melee strikes that would pass through several targets stop at this part. They cannot reach anything behind it.
  • When hit: Each hit plays a very short "injured" animation on the eye (about 0.08 seconds). It is only an animation: it does not change the damage you deal or The Remanent's attacks.

Mechanical Hand

  • Damage dealt to this enemy: 0.5× damage.
  • Passing through: Bullets and melee strikes that would pass through several targets stop at this part. They cannot reach anything behind it.
  • When hit: Each hit plays a very short "injured" animation on the hand (about 0.08 seconds). It is only an animation: it does not change the damage you deal or The Remanent's attacks.

Attacks and behaviour

A giant that sleeps until you come near. It fights from a distance with five kinds of attack, and at 66% and 33% health it becomes unhurtable while it calls a helper.

  • Waking: It cannot be hurt while it sleeps. It wakes when a player comes within 12 m, takes about 2 s to wake, and never moves. It only attacks players within 32 m.
  • Calling helpers: At 66% and 33% health it finishes its current attacks, then cannot be hurt while it calls See No or Hear No (random order, then the other one). Five seconds into the call, the helper wakes if it is within 12 m of the Remanent on the same floor.
  • Attack order: Its hand attacks (palm, sweep, then fireballs and thunder as they unlock) come from a shuffled set that uses each attack once, in random order, with a 1 s pause after each. The eye laser and lens lasers run on their own.
  • Electric wall: Once it is awake, an electric wall that blocks walking switches on when a player comes within 24 m of it. After that it stays on only while a living player is on one side of the wall's line, and it switches off when the Remanent dies.
  • Sound: It is not drawn toward the sounds you make.

Attacks

  • Palm: 40 Impact in a 2 m radius. A hand tracks every player for 1.3 s, stops for 0.4 s, then slams down.
  • Sweep: 30 Impact; three shockwaves one second apart, in the direction it faces: 0 to 5 m in a 120 degree cone, 5 to 10 m in 90 degrees, 10 to 15 m in 60 degrees. In its last phase each ring is struck twice, 0.5 s apart, and every wave also does 3 Puncture, 5 Slash and 3 Disintegrate. It turns toward the nearest player before it starts.
  • Fireballs: from 66% health; throws 3 fireballs at random spots in a strip on one fixed side of it (12 m wide, 1 to 17 m out), the same side every time and not aimed at you. Each fireball waits up to 10 s and bursts when you come within 1.5 m, sending 8 small fireballs in random directions up to 12 m. A small fireball that hits you does 5 Impact + 15 Disintegrate and sets you on fire for 10 s. The burst itself only touches a target standing on it.
  • Thunder: from 33% health; after a 1.2 s wind-up it fires 6 waves 0.5 s apart. Each wave marks the spot under every player within 32 m, and 0.5 s later lightning hits that spot (1 m radius): 35 Disintegrate, and you cannot move, roll, run, attack, reload or interact for 0.5 s.
  • Eye laser: until 33% health, at most once every 10 s; a beam aimed ahead of where you are heading. It shows a line for 0.5 s, then sweeps along it for 1 s, doing 5 Puncture + 18 Slash + 5 Disintegrate each game tick it touches you, and sets the ground along its path alight (Burned) for 3 s after it ends.
  • Lens lasers: from 33% health, in place of the eye laser, at most once every 10 s when nothing else is firing; 2 to 3 volleys 0.5 s apart; each volley is 2 to 4 beams aimed ahead of where you are heading, and each beam repeats 2 to 4 times, 25 Impact each time a beam touches you, with the same burning ground.
